Hello zoners, I need information about affordable housing in the north side of Austin. Perhaps someone can recommend an apartment complex? Also looking for an internet provider who offers reasonable rates with decent net speed. I was told bus routes1, 3, and 5 are the ideal routes because of their frequency. guide dog user, so if we need to walk some ways to H E B, or another grocery store it wouldn’t be a problem. Good places to eat get a drink, or bars with a live music venue would be appreciated. If you know of a good thrift store give me heads up. A good Chinese buffet and great happy hour as well. Most important is finding an apartment either efficiency or a one bedroom for under$700 per month. Any programs which might help with first, last and security deposits along with any connection fees for electric would also be appreciated.
Thank you for reading! Gizmo
Good luck with that. The average rent on a 1 bedroom apartment in Austin is $1200. My son's dad lives there and pays $1400 for a one bedroom. Granted, it's in a nearly new building and has a loft but still. Yikes. He's on the 1 bus line and there's a grocery store in walking distance as well as some other stuff; that's why he chose that one.
Utilities will be controlled by the Austin Municiple Utility District. I think the apartment complexes are going to control what ISP you use but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone here can give you better information.
yikes, indeed!!! thanks for the info!
